The location was favourable - not far from the grounds as well as the activities for kids and adults. It also was so close to everything.

The staff were amiable, outstandingly accommodating and helped me with free parking. Friendly customer service, including relatively cheap and great breakfasts with toast, a large Cappuccino and also the cake.

Affable and really friendly staff, and fabulous food!!!
Such great overall experience. The hotel with good-sized rooms, in a nice grassy area, so close to everything. Plenty of food available in the cafe. Marvellous and handy location, within walking distance of everywhere. Easy walk to Taupo Hot Springs.

We got excellent value for money in a comfortable and spacious room. The staff were extremely friendly and when we turned up early offered to hold our bags for us while we went onto Ruapehu for the day. The room was lovely and warm on our return and the kids absolutely loved the thermal pools and slides. We loved the fact that Debretts felt like it was in a private, back from the road setting but still close enough to the shops, restaurants and bars. We travel to Taupo every winter and would stay again.
Not really a complaint - more an observation, was that the kitchen, bathroom were slightly dated and could do with an upgrade. Everything was extremely clean though and in good working order. We certainly didnt mind as we loved the price!

The spa pool was the main attraction.
The accommodation was somewhat mediocre. Chipped paint on walls, old/worn appliances, frayed blinds, shower fittings old, water pressure uneven.

The hot pools. Reasonable rates.
Slightly older units although they have been redecorated.

The one-bedroom apartment was super spacious, great for our family. The beds and couch were really comfy, and the kitchen had plenty of space for meals. I loved the closet setup-it made organizing our stuff easy. The bathroom had lots of drawer storage too. Plus, being close to the hot pools was awesome. The room.

The pool was a great plus for the kids and the slide was a hit. Our room was very clean and all the kitchenware was of good quality and felt solid. Our beds were also comfortable and we loved the heat pump which worked great!
Not much to complain about. Some hot chocolate would be nice in the kitchen and we thought it would have been a good idea to include the price of the pools into the nightly cost of the villa, even if the price raised accordingly.

1. Clean 2. Comfortable 3. Modern 4. Nice 5. Reasonable price
Just hard to find the way to my room at night even it's just from the reception building to the room. We were driving around the garden about 10 mins to find the room. Anyway, it's not a big problem...^_^

I recently spent three nights at De Bretts in Taupo, and it was a good experience. The thermal pools provided a perfect relaxation after my explorations. The spacious one-bedroom apartment featured a fantastic kitchen. I did notice that the pools could be cleaner, but overall it exceeded my expectations.

Access to spa, back view, comfortable bed
Lack of space, overall sense of a bit scruffy

The lovely clean room and location and the hot springs were absolutely amazing.
Being a family room we stayed in, I would have liked to have had locks on the doors higher. The light switches are also very low. Main reason, my son who is not even two yet was able to unlock the door and open it by himself. This was a worry and meant not a very goods night sleep, hoping he wouldn't let himself out. Maybe extra locks put at the top of the doors would help.
